Additional protection for your labels: film lamination
Your labels deserve maximum durability and exceptional quality! Film lamination reinforces the strength of your labels, protects them against abrasion and significantly extends their life span. It is especially recommended for products that are handled frequently. Available in matt or glossy, film lamination repels dirt and moisture, which is why it is widely used in industries such as cosmetics, chemicals and beverages. In addition, it not only improves the appearance of your labels, but also their feel, providing a more professional finish. Film lamination enhances the perceived value of your product and boosts its advertising effect.

What is film lamination?
When lamination is applied, the printed material, such as paper or polypropylen, is coated with a thin plastic film to protect it and improve its finish. At etiqueta.es, film lamination is applied to the label using a process called wet lamination. This means that our laminate is not self-adhesive, but is applied to the labels with liquid adhesive. By using pressure, ultraviolet light and adhesive, the matt or glossy laminate is permanently affixed to the label.
In addition, the film should be selected according to the material: for a glossy material, a glossy film is ideal. If it is a matt material, we recommend a matt film.

Film lamination or protective varnish?
Your label deserves extra protection! You can choose between film lamination and protective varnish. As an alternative to our lamination, which protects against abrasion, oil and moisture and makes your labels more resistant, we offer you the option of applying a protective varnish, available in a matt or glossy finish. This varnish provides additional protection against abrasion and is applied as a liquid on the surface of your labels, which then dries to form a durable protective layer. In most cases, we recommend the use of protective varnish for its effectiveness and finish. However, if your labels are exposed to special conditions or potential irritations, lamination is still the most suitable option, as it offers more comprehensive protection, and since metallic labels are more susceptible to abrasion, they should be laminated in all cases.
Use our premium proofing service to check both finishes with protective function. We will produce a small quantity of labels with lamination under original printing conditions. This way, you can be sure that the end result fully meets your expectations.
Special features of film lamination
It should be noted that protective varnish is compatible with our finishes, such as blind embossing or relief embossing, but film lamination cannot be applied over the above mentioned finishes. In addition, labels with protective varnish can be subsequently printed on a thermal transfer printer, whereas film lamination is not suitable for this type of printing.
Materials and adhesives for labels with lamination
In our online calculator you can choose between different materials. Most coated materials are suitable for film lamination, but not natural or textured papers. In addition to paper labels, polypropylene labels can also be laminated. In addition, we offer different sustainable options for your labels with additional protection.
Depending on the intended use of your laminated labels, you will need the right adhesive. Among others, we offer labels with permanent, removable and freezer-grade adhesive. If you would like to test the materials and adhesive strength of your lamination label beforehand, we recommend that you first request our free sample book.

Labels with a special touch at etiqueta.es: all your options
If you choose labels with film lamination, you can also add other decorative finishes to further enhance the design. As already mentioned, both the lamination and the protective varnish have a mainly protective function. In addition, classic decorative finishes are available, such as hot foil stamping, blind embossing, relief embossing and digital spot varnish. Please note that if you opt for lamination, only hot foil stamping is compatible with this type of finish.

Digital finishing
Labels with digital spot varnish can also be laminated. This partial varnish is a clear varnish that is applied at certain points on the label to highlight elements. The finish is applied without embossing tools, so it is not considered a traditional finish.
Production, shipping and processing
Printing labels with lamination may seem like a long process, but it doesn’t have to be! At etiqueta.es, we show you the production time and delivery time directly in our online calculator, so you have all the information at a glance. In addition, in some cases you can choose the express production option and receive your labels with additional protection in much less time. Please note, however, that the production time may be extended if, for example, the print files are not correct or if special tools are required for finishing, such as embossing. We also offer different shipping options, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.
Once your laminated labels have been produced and delivered, you can apply them automatically, semi-automatically or manually. And a very important detail: during the ordering process of your laminated roll labels, don’t forget to indicate the correct winding direction. This is key to being able to label correctly afterwards.
